President: Ethan Kirkley
Major: Mechanical Engineering, 3rd Year
Ethan is originally from the San Luis Obispo County in California, where 3D Printing is an extreme rarity. He was first introduced to it by his shop teacher in high school, who happened to have a decent desktop printer. When he first saw this machine running, he knew that he wanted to be involved in the 3D Printing industry in the future. Since the 7th grade, he has been interested in robotic prosthesis. He views 3D Printing as an ideal medium to construct prosthesis, allowing the individual parts of a prosthetic to be printed, and then integrated with the necessary electronic components. Though he is still quite new to the 3D Printing industry, he has known about it for some time now. Being a part of the 3DP Club at UCI’s Board is his foot in the door so to speak, to a great future in the industry. He plans to do all he can to both continue the prosperity of the 3DP Club at UCI as it grows, as well as become more immersed in the industry as a whole.
Vice President & Keeper of the Books: Kevin Wong
Major: Computer Science, 2nd Year
Alec, being originally from Pennsylvania, had never had access to 3D printers before, so when he got to UCI he sprung on the opportunity to be a part of the 3D Printing club by spending his first year learning 3D Printing, and becoming a fundraising committee member. Over the summer he and his brother started Protonico Printing, an extension of the 3D Printing knowledge he learned over his first year. Continuing on into his second year at UCI, Alec joins 3DP’s board as the publicity chair. His responsibilities include anything dealing with people outside the club, the website, finding new members, and generally helping the club.
